Volume 24: The Hoarder of Souls Protagonist: The Underworld King. Class: Reaper (Lantern Ferryman Subclass). Karma Alignment: Lawful Neutral (The False Sanctuary).
Act I: The False Heaven When adventurers die within the infinite shifting floors of The Broken Tavern, their flesh and souls are traditionally absorbed into the living architecture to keep the cosmic dungeon grinding. However, the Underworld King decides to break this cycle. Armed with his Lantern of Sanctuary, this Reaper builds a massive subterranean vault hidden deep beneath the dungeon’s floorboards. He begins hoarding the souls of the dead, protecting them from the horrors of the system and ruling over them as a grim but fair king in his own isolated underworld.
Act II: Cosmic Tax Evasion To a starving machine like the Tavern, hoarding souls is not an act of mercy; it is categorized as cosmic tax evasion. By stealing the spiritual fuel required to sustain the architecture, the Underworld King triggers a massive Rule 9 violation.
Act III: The Audit To repossess its stolen fuel and violently audit the vault, the Tavern unleashes a Cathedral-Class Karma Excision Engine. The Underworld King uses his severance magic to fight to the bitter end to defend his sanctuary, but the Tavern does not debate-it simply overpowers, and it always balances its ledger.
Act IV: Repossession The Excision Engine breaches the false underworld, shattering his vault and his lantern. The thousands of souls the Reaper tried to protect are violently pulled back into the Tavern’s walls.
Act V: Assimilation Unable to hold back the system’s overwhelming immune response, the screaming Ferryman is dragged down into the stone with the lost souls, completely assimilated into the architecture he tried to defy.
