Smouldering Wick

Smouldering Wick is a quiet, deeply human story about love, grief, spiritual confusion, and the fragile warmth of faith.

Evelyn Mercer spends her days crafting exquisite candles in a small candle shop filled with the scent of melted wax, cedarwood, and smoke. To most people, her life appears peaceful—gentle even. But beneath the soft glow of candlelight lives a woman haunted by a question she has carried for twenty years:

What if I misunderstood God?

When Evelyn was young, a mysterious dream shattered her relationship with Joseph – the man she loved deeply. Years later, another dream convinced her to return to him, believing heaven had restored what was lost. But love, longing, grief, and faith are rarely simple things, and the path that followed left both of them bruised in ways neither fully understood.

Now, surrounded by flickering flames and half-finished candles, Evelyn slowly begins confronting the painful possibility that sincere hearts can still hear imperfectly… and that divine tenderness may remain even in confusion.

Rich with candle imagery, quiet reflections, and deeply human characters, Smouldering Wick is a contemplative story about wounded faith, unresolved love, spiritual uncertainty, and the courage required to remain soft in a world that so easily grows cold.

For anyone who has ever feared they waited too long, loved wrongly, misunderstood God, or carried unanswered prayers through the dark—this is a story of trembling light that refuses to go out.
