Out of the Shadows

Perfect for fans of Arcane: League of Legends**, Garth Nix, and Naomi Novik…**

Seventeen-year-old Lenore is homeless and a thief, on the run from the law in the steam-powered city-state of Springhaven. Getting caught by the Enforcers, the city’s so-called “peacekeepers,” would mean a life of imprisonment and torture for her.

When she meets the seemingly eccentric Sir Neal and Dr. Mina Allen, she’s offered an opportunity at a new life—assume a new identity and enter a glittering world of wealth and privilege. This could be the chance to live in safety Lenore has been yearning for, but leaving the shadows behind will be harder than she imagined.

Magic was supposed to have been destroyed over a century ago, yet oaths and debts still carry very real weight.

Just as Lenore is indebted to the Allens for saving her life, so too a handsome, mysterious crime lord known only as Rook comes bearing his own heavy bond and news of her imprisoned parents. He knows who she really is, and he’s sworn an oath that binds him down into his soul to protect her.

Lenore’s benefactors harbor secrets of their own, and danger mounts as her new circle becomes entangled with double-agent Enforcers, debuts, assassins, and a kindly vampyre.

In this captivating steampunk fantasy adventure full of sass, intrigue, found family, and coming of age trials, Lenore must find the courage to forge her own path in this Victorian-era-esque world of lost magic and technology, or risk the people she loves as the growing web of lies she’s built comes crashing down around them.
